Sharp’s Hill Vineyards is proud to announce our 2009 Silver Award at the recent San Francisco International Wine Competition in our class for 2007 SHV “V” Viognier. 

As we bid 2008 goodbye, those of us at Sharp’s Hill Vineyards want to take a moment to wish you the very best New Years Eve and a very happy and healthy 2009!

Thank you for visiting us for what I hope is a timely and ongoing diary of life on the “hill”. We are very excited in using this format to share the large and small of the vineyard and winery experience with you our friends. This is a fantastic time of year to be around Paso and here at SHV. The heat of the summer is edging and now we and all the other vineyards and wineries are gearing up for crush (harvest).  The annual crush is an appropriate term as it feels very much like all the hard work throughout the year peaks in this very short time of harvest. Bringing the grapes from the field after months of love and care to smash and squash them into the purple pulp that will create the wine. More on that to come.

We were recently honored to have received a Silver Medal for our very first release, SHV 2007 Viognier at the Long Beach Grand Cru Wine Competition. The experience of bottling your first vintage is akin to giving birth (only more expensive).  A long time in creation, but well worth it. With the help of some really great professionals here in Paso we capped a year of growth into a bottle to be shared with our friends. We will continue to update and improve upon our web site and additionally we will be formatting our wine club  program which will make our wine available early to members as well as other benefits and private tasting here on the hill.

Sharp’s Hill Vineyards is very proud to announce that our first release, 2007 Estate Produced Viognier, has recently won a Silver Medal in their white wine class at the 2008 Long Beach Grand Cru international wine competition.

This wine will be available for purchase in September and available to wine club members prior to that. Stay tuned for more news.
